Like playing video games? The Kerr County Veterans Service Office (VSO) is excited to announce a new partnership with Schreiner University’s PopCon to co-host a Call of Duty tournament on Saturday, Feb. 28, for veterans, their family members and friends.

This special event will be held in the Schreiner University Cailloux Campus Activity Center (CCAC) during PopCon, a two-day, free convention celebrating the culture and fandom surrounding anime, comics, movies and gaming. This year’s event from Feb. 28-March 1 will feature video game/tabletop tournaments, a themed escape room, cosplay contest and guest speakers.

Participants in the Call of Duty tournament may preregister or check in on-site at 2100 Memorial Boulevard in Kerrville between 10-11 a.m. on the day of the tournament.

“This tournament is designed to bring veterans together with their families and the community for a day of connection, camaraderie and fun,” said Kerr County Veterans Service Officer Jenna Sanchez.

“We are proud of this collaboration between the Kerr County Veterans Service Office and Schreiner University, which will create opportunities that support and engage the local veteran community in a meaningful and enjoyable way,” she added.

“We are thrilled to partner with Schreiner University PopCon to offer this event,” Sanchez continued. “This tournament is a great way for veterans and their loved ones to come together, build community and enjoy some friendly competition.”

There is no cost to participate, and all veterans and their families and friends are encouraged to attend.
