Kerr County Historical Commission

Rich in Local HistoryThe Kerr County Historical Commission is an agency of your Kerr County, Texas, local government.
It is comprised of volunteer residents who initiate and follow through on programs proposed by the Texas Historical Commission for the purposes of preserving this county's historical heritage. The commission is responsible for determining the existence of historical buildings, sites or cemeteries and to explore, describe, explain and record information regarding Kerr County history.

Funding
Operating funds are provided for the most part by appropriations from the general revenue of the county, as determined by the Kerr County Commissioners' Court. Donations are received from individuals or businesses for memorial contributions, which are tax-deductible to the donor.
Friends
The Friends of the Kerr County Historical Commission, Inc. (Friends) is a separate, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that was founded for raising funds to restore the old Union Church and which continues in its dedication to supporting the various historic preservation programs of the Kerr County Historical Commission.

Archives
The Kerr County Historical Commission and Schreiner University’s William Logan Library partnered for the housing of the commission's archival documents in a first-of-its-kind collaboration.
This significant collection of documents, photos and artifacts are being preserved, protected and are made accessible to the public Schreiner University's Logan Library, as well as through the Lanham Digital Library.
Access to the non-digital archives is by appointment only with the Special Collections department during the library’s normal hours of operation. Anyone can schedule an appointment to access the archives by calling 830-792-7337, then visiting the library at the agreed upon time at 2100 Memorial Boulevard in Kerrville.
