Braving temps in the low 20s, a crowd of die-hard supporters gathered at 6 a.m. at the Kerr County Courthouse lawn Monday for a little fun kicking off stock show week.

Having just taken the oath of office on Jan. 1 and making his debut appearance as a competitor, Commissioner (Pct. 1) Tom Jones (in top photo) won the cow chip toss -- a spirited competition between Kerr County and the City of Kerrville leaders.

A race to dress meat goats in body suits and tutus was also a part of the fun.

Judging in the county show kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Hill Country Youth Event Center, 3785 TX-27 in Kerrville. The 2025 Kerr County Stock Show will continue through Friday, Jan. 10, and will conclude with a buyers appreciation lunch and a sale on Saturday, Jan. 11.
