Kerr County offices to close for Feb. 19 Presidents Day holiday
Kerr County, Texas, will be closed Monday, Feb. 19, in observance of the federal holiday, Presidents Day.
The one-day break will affect most county governmental offices, including those located in the Kerr County Courthouse, 700 Main Street in Kerrville, and those in the West Kerr County Courthouse Annex, 510 College Street in Ingram.
The break will not affect emergency services, including fire, EMS or law enforcement.
Similarly, since this observed holiday falls on the third Monday of the month, unaffected will be the Kerr County Commissioners’ Court, which meets regularly on the second and fourth Mondays each month.
All departments are expected to resume normal operations on Tuesday, Feb. 20. To see individual office hours, please refer to individual departmental pages on the county’s website: www.kerrcountytx.gov.
After the upcoming break, the next scheduled closing of county offices is on March 29 for Good Friday.
Presidents Day
Presidents Day is a federal and state holiday. It is intended to celebrate the lives of all United States presidents, although it was officially designated in 1879 a federal holiday to celebrate first president and founding father George Washington, who was born on Feb. 22, 1732. The holiday also has become synonymous for celebrating 16th president Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12, 1809.
