Kerr County offices to close Sept. 2 for Labor Day
Most Kerr County, Texas, offices and departments will be closing their doors for the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 2.
While the one-day closure will not impact any emergency services, such as law enforcement, fire or EMS, it will mean that offices will be closed in the Kerr County Courthouse, 700 Main Street in Kerrville, and at the West Kerr County Courthouse Annex, 510 College Street in Ingram.
Business hours will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 5. To learn what normal operating hours are for a specific department, please refer to its webpage found under “Departments” on the county’s website: www.kerrcountytx.gov.
Labor Day celebrates and recognizes the American labor movement, as well as the works and contributions made by laborers to the development and achievement of the United States.
The first Labor Day holiday was observed on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. In 1894, Congress passed a bill recognizing the first Monday of September as Labor Day and making it a holiday for federal workers. All U.S. states and territories now observe Labor Day as a statutory holiday.
After Labor Day, the next holiday to be observed by the local county government will be Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 14.
