Kerr County, Texas Closing Friday for Veterans Day Holiday

Vetsday

Most Kerr County, Texas, offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, in observance of the federal Veterans Day holiday.

This one-day closure will impact offices primarily in the Kerr County Courthouse, 700 Main Street in Kerrville, and at the West Kerr County Courthouse Annex, 510 College Street in Ingram.

Citizens are reassured that the holiday will not interrupt any emergency services, including needed responses by law enforcement, fire department or paramedic agencies.

Normal business hours will resume on Monday, Nov. 13.

The holiday does not impact the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Kerr County Commissioners’ Court, which is set for 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 13, in the first-floor commissioners’ court courtroom at the courthouse. Those who are interested in the proceedings, but who cannot attend may watch it livestreamed or as a recording at their convenience on the county’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-LD3iT7VijiBWrOMplcjug

Veterans Day, also known as Armistace Day, is on Nov. 11 each year, as it marks the celebrated ending of World War I fighting at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11, 1918 (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.)

Since this year the date falls on a Saturday, many governmental offices and financial institutions are observing it the day before.

Unlike Memorial Day, when Americans remember military men and women who died in the line of duty, Veterans Day is an opportunity to recognize all those who served in the U.S. Military Forces.
