Residents who live, work or travel on the south side of Kerrville might experience a traffic detour starting Monday, May 8, due to work that is being done to add parking to Peterson Regional Medical Center.

The construction project requires the reworking of the intersection of Leonard Road and Rimrock Drive to provide access to the new parking area.

To accommodate the construction and actually reduce the work timetable by half, that intersection will be shut down and traffic will be rerouted for an estimated three weeks.

The detour route will add approximately 1 mile to the drive of neighboring residents to access Sidney Baker Street.

The contractor of the PRMC added parking project, J3, will use a certified, local traffic control contractor to install and maintain all city-required detour signage.
