A partnership effort between the Kerr County Veterans Service Office (VSO) and the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) Area Agency on Aging will mean that local military veterans and adults 60 and older will receive additional support.

Individuals who are veterans or aging adults may be eligible for assistance with:

  • Income Support (for utility bills, such as electricity, water, gas, etc.)

  • Health – For items to promote or maintain health and safety, such as durable medical equipment, nutritional supplements, glasses, hearing aids, basic dental care, disposable undergarments, disposable pads, adult wipes, bed pads, gloves, etc.

  • Residential Repair – For minor home modifications to promote and maintain health and safety, such as grab bars, handrails, tub cuts, some small appliances, ramps, etc.

“We are thankful for this collaboration with AACOG, because it is means veterans in our community and aging adults who are 60 years old or older in Kerr County will get more help in maintaining their independence and well-being,” said Kerr County Veterans Service Officer Jenna Sanchez. “Together, our agencies will work to connect these individuals with the resources that are tailored to their needs. It’s just one more positive partnership endeavor we’re undertaking with AACOG.”

Those individuals who fall within the two populations identified above and who need assistance can contact the Alamo Service Connection by calling 866-231-4922.

Those who need additional assistance are encouraged to call the Kerr County VSO at 830-792-2203. The team will guide callers through the application process and ensure they are connected to the appropriate AACOG programs.
