Does your mail from the VA arrive late or go missing altogether? If so, then you might being accruing interest and fees unnecessarily or even see your debt sent to a collection agency. “Now’s the time to make sure your mailing address is up to date,” said Kerr County Veteran Service Officer Jenna Sanchez.

“Our Kerr County military veterans may even have more than one mailing address on file with the VA, because of a number of reasons,” Sanchez said. “For example, they might want to have a family member receive some of their mail. Or, they might be a snowbird and travel for much of the year and want their mail to go to a permanent address. Or, they might even live in a nursing home or assisted living center and want some mail to go to their facility and other mail to go to other addresses.”

Ultimately, the Kerr County VSO recommends that veterans create an account to manage their VA benefits and care in one place – accessible at anytime from anywhere.

To create the online account, visit: https://www.va.gov/?next=loginModal and follow the prompts on how to set up an account.

Update mailing address information by following the instructions at https://www.va.gov/change-address/ or contact the Kerrville VA Medical Center at 830-896-2020.

“If you are receiving all of your mail from the VA appropriately, then you do not need to do anything,” Sanchez said. “But, to avoid problems, please contact our office and we can help you complete the correct forms, obtain their signature and submit it to the VA.”
