County Gives Update on Interlocal Agreement Termination

During Kerr County Commissioners’ Court on Monday, an update was given on the status of the interlocal agreement between Kerr County, Texas, and the City of Kerrville regarding animal control and library services.

Kerr County Commissioner (Pct. 3) Jonathan Letz said that, effective March 13, the interlocal agreement between the two governing entities had been terminated.

“In the past several months, there were several meetings between representatives from Kerr County and the City of Kerrville regarding these services. During these meetings, it was determined that there was no governmental need for the continuation of the interlocal agreement,” Letz said.

The Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library is a department of the City of Kerrville and it will be operated solely by the city, while Kerr County Animal Services is a department of Kerr County, Texas, and will be operated solely by the county, he continued.

“Moving forward, Kerr County (as the local rabies control authority) will continue to provide the same level of service in Kerr County as it currently does and as it may be amended from time to time,” Letz said. “The level of service will be the same within the incorporated limits of Kerrville as it is throughout the entire county.”

“Our understanding is that the City of Kerrville will continue to provide access to the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library to all residents of Kerr County under the same basis, which is currently at no cost for r4esidents” whether they live inside or outside Kerrville’s city limits, he explained.

“We believe this is another example of the City of Kerrville and Kerr County, Texas, continuing to work together for the betterment of all residents of Kerr County,” Letz said.
