Voter Registration Deadline, Early Voting Dates Set

Kerr County residents who would like to vote in the November Constitutional Amendment Election, but who are not registered to vote have until the Oct. 10, 2023, deadline to get properly signed up.

Any Kerr County residents who want to know if they are already registered to vote can find out for certain by visiting: https://www.votetexas.gov/register/index.html. That same site also allows voters to start a voter registration application, as well as to update their voter registration information online.

 Anyone wishing to register to vote may do so in-person at the Kerr County Elections Department in Suite 124, on the first floor of the Kerr County Courthouse, 700 Main Street in Kerrville.

Ballot by mail

Those applying for a ballot by mail must make sure the county elections office has received their request by the end of day on Friday, Oct. 27, 2023.

To be eligible to vote early by mail in Texas, a voter must be: 65 years or older, sick/disabled; out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting; expecting to give birth within 3 weeks before or after election day, or be confined in jail (but otherwise eligible to vote.)

Nov. 7 election

To be decided on the Nov. 7 ballot for the Constitutional Amendment Election are 14 state propositions.

Their topics range from agricultural and wildlife management protections, child-care facility tax obligations, a “wealth tax” and a temporary limit on the maximum appraised value of real property other than a residence homestead to the creation of the Texas Water Fund and the Texas Energy Fund, a cost-of-living adjustment for certain Texas teachers, to raising the retirement age for Texas justices and judges and more.

Early voting

Early, in-person balloting in his year’s Constitutional Amendment Election will run from Oct. 23-Nov. 3.

There are two early voting locations in Kerr County – the main location at the Hill Country Youth Event Center (in the Happy State Bank Expo Hall), 3785 TX27 in Kerrville, and the secondary site at the West Kerr County Courthouse Annex, 510 College Street in Ingram.

Hours during which local registered voters can make the most of the convenience afforded by early voting will be the same at both locations and are as follows: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, Oct. 23-27; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday, Oct. 30-Nov. 1, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 2-3. No voting will be offered on Saturdays or Sundays.
